DHCPatriot version 5.2.1 has been released. This is a maintenance with bug fixes only. Only DHCPatriot systems experiencing the
bugs repaired in this release will receive this software. All of the fixes from this release will of course be in version 5.3.0. Here are
the release notes:
- Added hardware support for the 2013-1 model of DHCPatriot system.
- Gave space on startup to launching programs so that they don`t all launch simultaneously. This should help with some freeze-up
on startup problems.
- Added diagnostic software that will allow us to access hardware information in the field.
- Repaired a problem where if both circuit and remote ids were provided in option 82, the remote-id was not recorded.
- Repaired a problem that could cause the daily cron tasks to possibly hang and therefore not run the next day.
- When DHCP log storage gets to large, it can cause slowdowns and problems on the DHCPatriot. A watchdog has been introduced
to clean the logs if they get to large. * Please note that this refers to logs
not session information, in other words the transitory information used for troubleshooting someone`s DHCP problems, not the
storage of what IP address was used by whom at what time *
- Added extra information to the log file when an invalid DHCP event is encountered so that we may find the offending event and
remove it.

DHCPatriot 5.2.0 has entered beta. There are many new features in this release as well as bug fixes.
Some highlights of the new features are: Notes are now available for sticky and exclude IP; We will now be alerted if the DHCPatriot falls behind
processing lease events; Captive portal pages may now be completely replaced; Option 82 information available with sessions (if exist); Per user
simultaneous use restrictions from RADIUS now possible.

DHCPatriot update 5.1.2 has been released. Below are the patch notes for this release.
- Added firewall rules to place a limit on the number of connections that can be opened by a single client machine to the web authentication page.
The limit is 20 hits in 10 seconds. It works like this: once a client opens his 20th connection in 10 seconds, he cannot open anymore. If he
continues to try during the
time that he cannot open more connections, this counts as well. The client machine will need to wait and not open any more connetions until 10
seconds has passed.
It is unlikely that clients with a virus infection opening large amounts of web page ports will be able to get to the authentication page.
- Changed MaxRequestsPerChild to 1024 from 0 in the web server. This will allow running servers to exit after serving a certain number of pages
as per
manufacturer recommendation.
- Removed text wrapping from all textareas to prevent inconsistancies with visual wrap versus storage of actual data.
- Added some more error messages to the suspend user function. Previously - mass suspending users was confusing because it reported no
individual success.
Also, when a mac address was invalid, no specific error was displayed which was also confusing. These success/error messages have been added.
- Added snmpd, ntpd and mysqld to the daily restart list for maintenance purposes.
- Added support for adding custom DHCP configurations to each standard dynamic subnet. This is similar to the global configuration available in
the general settings, but is on a per-subnet basis.
- Repaired an issue with the graph where the maximum utilization always read 0% ... it now reads the correct percentage.
- Repaired an issue where sticky ips username was case sensitive. This was not meant to be case sensitive and the problem has been corrected.
- Administrator accounts created in the CLI menu interface previously wound up being DES encrypted. This has been corrected and these
passwords are now MD5 encrypted the same as those created in the web administration interface.
- Repaired a problem where automatically suspending old devices could cause a problem on the system making it unstable.

We are proud to announce that DHCPatriot version 5.1.0 has been released!
This version includes support for IPv6 as well as DHCPv6!
We have created a primer document that will describe the coming features related to IPv6 and DHCPv6. The document also includes full patch notes. Get the document
here.
